Dear Honorable Members and Observers of the APPU:
It is my distinct pleasure, on behalf of the Congress of the Federated States of Micronesia, to invite you to attend the 76th Council Meeting and the 42nd General Assembly of the Asian-Pacific Parliamentarians’ Union, which will be held at the College of Micronesia-FSM Sports Center (COM-FSM) in Palikir, Pohnpei, Federated States of Micronesia from Wednesday, 07 September to Friday, 09 September 2011.
This meeting will be an important one. The theme for this year will be: “APPU: New Challenges, New Role.” It is time for members to rethink the mission and role of the APPU in light of new changes and development of the world situation. The world has changed much since our organization was created and role, rules and procedures may need to be amended to reflect the new situation with an eye to enhance relevance and usefulness. This year we will deal hopefully with the deferred resolutions and issues from last year’s meeting, and think together of the way forward for our organization.
