Airlines Servicing Pohnpei
Continental Airlines (Boeing 737-800) is the only airline servicing the island of Pohnpei.
It departs either from Guam or Honolulu every other day to stop by Pohnpei on its ‘Island-Hop’ route:
(Guam-Chuuk-Pohnpei-Kosrae- Kwajalein-Majuro-Honolulu)

There is a Pohnpei Airport Departure tax fee of $10.00.

Visa Requirements
All participants visiting FSM should pass either Honolulu or Guam airport, where you are required to have a US transit visa.

Visitors to the Federated States of Micronesia do not require an entry permit for stays up to 30 days. However, you must have an onward ticket and a passport valid for at least 120 days. An entry permit is required for visits longer than 30 days, extendable up to one year. For further visa requirements please refer to:

Transportation
Ground transfers will be provided upon arrival and departure, between the hotels and conference venue and for all official functions during the conference.

Arrival and Departure
Staff of the Host Secretariat will be greet and meet you upon your arrival at the Pohnpei International Airport. A sign with “Welcome APPU Members” will help facilitate arrival of APPU Delegations. APPU Delegates will also be assisted during departure.

All changes on arrival and departure must be submitted to the host secretariat not later than 48 hours.

Insurance
It is recommended that participants take out their own insurance against all risks.

Medical Service
A first-aid service will be provided at the conference venue. A medical doctor will be around throughout the conference, and activities. All other medical services will be at the participant’s cost. It is advisable that all participants take out adequate health insurance.

Weather Conditions
Pohnpei’s climate is generally predictable, quite warm with high humidity, under either a bright sun or heavy rainfall. The island is considered one of the wettest places in the world, with the interior region receiving an average rainfall of about 400 inches per year and Kolonia, the capitol of Pohnpei State, receiving about 190 inches.

The average daily temperature for Pohnpei is 81 degrees Fahrenheit (27 degrees Celsius). Relative humidity is high, averaging between 80 and 90 percent. Northeasterly trade winds blow during most of the year. (Taken from booklet “Pohnpei: An Ecotourist’s Delight, p. 4).

Registration and Information Desk
The Registration and Information Desk will be located at the conference venue during meeting hours for the three days.

On the morning of the assembly, please pick up your name badge and conference materials at the Reception and Information Desk from 8:30 to 9:30 am. This desk will also handle messages and information for delegates, and all practical matters related to the work of the APPU 42^nd General Assembly.

Security
All necessary security measures will be taken. Participants should wear their ID badges at all times to access the conference venue.

Currency Exchange
The currency used in the Federated States of Micronesia is the U.S. dollar. Bank of Guam provides currency exchange services only for Bank of Guam account holders. There are two banks on the island:

ATM machines are located at the Bank of Guam, and at the Palm Terrace in Kolonia. They accept major credit and debit cards.
